Wedding Insurance

An increasingly popular thing among couples getting married these days — wedding insurance. Just in case something out of the ordinary happens… Would you ever consider purchasing wedding insurance? Below is information discussing the pros and cons of purchasing wedding insurance.

According to TheKnot.com, wedding insurance protects a couple’s investment from circumstances beyond their control, and reimburses expenses incurred. For example, say the bride’s wedding dress gets lost in baggage claim or there is expected to be a huge hurricane the day of your dream wedding. Unfortunately, these things do happen. With purchased insurance, you will receive every penny back if the wedding has to be postponed or re-located.

A basic insurance policy that covers loss of photos, videos, attire, presents, rings, and deposits usually costs anywhere between $155 and $550, depending on the amount of coverage you want.

Before you buy wedding insurance, check with your each of your vendors to see how well they’re covered. Some vendors may already have insurance so check with them first before you decide to purchase the insurance. Ask your vendors for a copy of their policy, and then figure out where you aren’t fully covered. You should purchase your insurance as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more opportunities something could go wrong.

Keep in mind that insurance doesn’t cover cold feet or a change of heart, pearls or precious gem stones that were attached to your wedding dress, as well as engagement rings.
