Here at Triad DJ & Events we love working at the Proximity not only because of the amazing atmosphere, delicious food, but also because of the great staff, including Amanda Martin.
I have known Amanda practically since the Proximity opened its doors nearly 5 years ago, and since that first day, we have become friends and worked on numerous events together, including her own wedding, which will take place later in the year. Recently, over a cup of coffee, I had the opportunity to grab ten minutes with Amanda to learn more about the inside track of her operation.

Amanda, What is your job title and how long have you been working the Proximity?
In March, I will celebrate my fourth year with the Proximity Hotel. I have been in my current position as Sales Manager/Wedding Specialist for three and a half years and love every minute of it.
What does your job entail?
I always wanted to do something where no day was the same. It was truly the only thing that I knew was important when choosing a career. I have definitely found that in what I do, and I love it. For example, I get to meet with couples all the time and talk about what they love and want in their day, in addition to talking about how my team and I can make that happen for them. I get to work with groups from weddings to rehearsal dinners to birthday parties to educational retreats and galas. My job is pretty dynamic!
Why are you successful at what you do?
I believe that the people who are successful in this line of work only get that way by truly having a passion for it. A passion for helping people plan their perfect event; a passion for seeing people happy; a passion for knowing that because of your hard work someone has a better day-a better memory.
What makes Proximity Hotel stand out from other venues in the area? What is the appeal?
Proximity Hotel stands out in many different ways. Our staff is definitely the top reason because they truly believe in our mission to be of genuine service to our guests. The other feature that makes Proximity stand out is our incredibly modern design and all of the wonderful items and service we include when planning an event here.

How many weddings are held at the Proximity each Year?
Since I have been here, I have planned over 300 events- the majority being weddings- at about 50 a year.
What does the Proximity have to offer in terms of amenities/perks to brides and grooms?
Well, for starters, we offer an incredible planning experience (as stress-free as possible and at a great value), an amazing time for your guests (with fantastic food and service), and a night to remember forever. What more could you ask for?
Are there ways that you can work with couples on their budget, esp. when they have a very tight budget?
We try and work with all of our brides and grooms by coming up with creative ways to use the budget they have set. Sadly though, we cannot meet all budgets, but will do our best to make recommendations for other locations and ideas.

How do you personally know if an event is successful? What are the determining factors?
The guest feedback during the event and couple’s feedback afterwards. Feedback is very important to us because we need it to continue to strive towards perfection.
Any last piece of advice or words of wisdom that you would like to leave Brides and Groom with in terms of planning their event?
Work with people you trust. It makes the planning so much more enjoyable.
Anything really cool happening at the Proximity Hotel this year in terms of events, etc?
I am working on updating our website now to be more bride/groom friendly with more pictures and we are working to come up with new ways to learn more about our spaces and service.
